Lupe Fiasco on stage in Royal Oak
c: Royal Oak Music Theatre
Wednesday night popular Hip/Hop artist Lupe Fiasco played a sold out show at the Royal Oak Music Theatre.
Rapper B.O.B. opened the show performing a number of songs off of his upcoming April 27 release The Adventures of Bobby Ray including current hit "Nothing On You", which went over well with the packed crowd and was a nice warm up to Lupe's set.
Lupe Fiasco has become known for his high energy performances and Wednesday night he did not disappoint as he started his show out with a bang that began with a countdown from 10 that led into the chords of "Shining Down".
With the Steppin' Laser World Tour logo behind him, a fantastic light show and a pretty good backing band, Fiasco more than proved that he is far superior to most of what is being called rap these days.
One just had to listen to the crowd eruption when he took the stage to understand his current impact and popularity.
I was also impressed with the fact that during his performance of "The Instrumental" his microphone went out on him and rather than just pick up where he left off, he got a new mike and redid the song from the beginning.
Fiasco wanted to make sure that the fans got what they came for.
The rest of the set featured songs from all three of his albums with highlights that included first single "Kick, Push", energetic "State Run Radio" and popular track "Hip Hop Saved My Life".
However, it was hit "Superstar" that got the biggest crowd reaction of the night as they sang their hearts out to the Matthew Santos chorus as Lupe moved from one end of the stage to the other.

Shining Down
Solar Midnite

National Anthem
