Indie rockers Hypernova will be bringing their tour to the Majestic Cafe in Detroit on Thursday, July 1.
The tour will be Hypernova's first headline tour in support of their debut full-length album, Through the Chaos, which was released on April 6th via Narnack Records.
Not bad for a band who formed in Iran, where it is illegal to play rock music.
After playing numerous secret gigs in their homeland of Iran hoping to avoid detection, Hypernova made an exodus to the U.S. in 2007 giving them not only a means to do what they love without threat but also a new lease on personal freedom.
After creating a buzz in the U.S. underground music scene, the band's music began to get a lot of media attention and led to them touring with a number of bands including IAMX and Sisters of Mercy.
Hypernova's exciting, primal music is the sound of minimal, dark epic techno converted into rock n roll. NPR described them quite accurately as cut from the same cloth as "The Strokes, The Arctic Monkeys and Queens of the Stone Age."
Through the Chaos is a wild and dynamic mixture of dark alternative pop intermingled with a thick and sweet melodic dance rock.
Hypernova's debut album is an homage to their love of Western music, seen through the eyes of a band who risked life and liberty for their chance at the "american dream".
March 2 saw the release of their first single, the rocking dance song "Fairy Tales".
Hypernova will be on tour through Saturday, July 3.
