Alternative rock band Dommin are currently on a North American tour opening for Finnish rock band HIM.
The tour will be making a stop tomorrow night in Pontiac at Clutch Cargos and on Tuesday night in Grand Rapids at the Orbit Room.
Today, just before they took the stage at the House of Blues in Cleveland, Dommin front man Kristofer Dommin took some time to talk to me and share his thoughts on the tour, playing Detroit, and their new album Love Is Gone.
Q: How's the tour going so far?
A: It's going good. We're only like a week into the U.S. portion of it. It's been overwhelmingly positive so we're certainly happy about it.
Q: Is there any songs that stand out for you live?
A: We started playing the title track of the new album "Love Is Gone" on this tour and that's been going really well. We changed the bridge of the song to kind of uh give it a real kind of strange spirit and texture live because on the cd it's a really big bridge. It's been going really well.
Q: Well you'll be out this way tomorrow night and in Grand Rapids Tuesday.
A: Is that tomorrow? Okay, I find it hard to keep track of.
Q: I saw you when you were out here in October with 69 Eyes. Do you like playing in Detroit?
A: It was a good experience when we were there. We've only been there once for the 69 Eyes show but we've been in Grand Rapids before with Lacuna Coil and it was a really great show. One of our best that we've had. It comes across as something memorable. We always remember Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Q: Do you have a new single/video coming out?
A: Well we started out with the video for "My Heart Your Hands". We shot a video for "Tonight" and I assume that it is going to be released at some point in the next couple of months.
Q: Do you have plans for after the tour?
A: After this tour we head back over to Europe and do some one off date festivals and things like that. That's what's going on in the near future.
